About the Piece
Edvard Grieg (1843–1907) wrote In The Hall Of The Mountain King as part of his incidental music for Henrik Ibsen’s play Peer Gynt in 1874–75, later extracting it into Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 (Op. 46). The piece accompanies Peer sneaking into the troll king’s hall.
