About the Hymn
Thomas Obadiah Chisholm (1866–1960) wrote this hymn in 1923, drawing inspiration from Lamentations 3:22–23: “Great is Thy faithfulness…new every morning.” The tune Faithfulness was composed by William M. Runyan (1870–1957) while serving at Moody Bible Institute. Together, words and melody quickly became beloved around the world. Great Is Thy Faithfulness remains a hymn of assurance, celebrating God’s unchanging love and care through every season of life. Its steady rhythm and hopeful message make it a favourite at services of thanksgiving and renewal.
