About the Hymn
Daniel Webster Whittle (1840–1901) wrote this hymn in the late 19th century, drawing on God’s promises in Ezekiel 34:26. His friend James McGranahan (1840–1907) provided the well-loved tune Showers of Blessing. Its hopeful message of revival and renewal has made it a favourite in gospel services.
