About the Piece

Richard Wagner’s Bridal Chorus (“Treulich geführt”) appears in Act III of *Lohengrin*, first performed in Weimar in 1850 under Franz Liszt. In the opera it is sung after the wedding, as the couple are led to the bridal chamber, but it later became a popular processional at civil and church ceremonies. Its steady, dignified phrases and memorable opening line made it one of the most recognisable pieces associated with weddings.

Beyond its stage origins, the chorus has taken on a life of its own, symbolising celebration and solemn joy. Whether heard in its original choral-orchestral form or in simple keyboard settings, its graceful melody and measured pace continue to mark the moment when a ceremony begins and a new chapter opens.
