About the Hymn
Edward Perronet (1726–1792) wrote “All Hail The Power Of Jesus’ Name” in the late 18th century as a bold confession of Christ’s Kingship. In this book it is set to the tune MILES LANE by William Shrubsole (1759–1829), whose soaring melody suits the hymn’s triumphant theme. Often called the “coronation hymn,” it has become a favourite at services of praise and celebration. The hymn calls the Church to exalt Jesus Christ above all, reminding worshippers that every knee shall bow before Him.
