About the Hymn
Dean Henry Alford (1810–1871) penned this well-known harvest hymn, here set to George J. Elvey’s tune ST. GEORGE’S WINDSOR (1816–1893). It blends gratitude for daily provision with a reminder of the final harvest at the end of the age. Often sung at harvest festivals and Thanksgiving services, it helps worshippers thank God for His gifts and look forward to His coming Kingdom.
