About the Hymn
Robert Lowry (1826–1899) wrote both text and tune for “Nothing But The Blood,” here titled PLAINFIELD. The refrain’s repeating question-and-answer affirms that only Jesus’ Blood cleanses from sin. Frequently sung at evangelistic and communion services, the hymn keeps the Cross at the centre of worship and points hearts to the Redeemer’s finished work.
